AWANA
There are AWANA Clubs for children from preschool through
the sixth grade. Clubs meet each Wednesday evening from 6:30
p.m. until 8 p.m.
AWANA is a children’s
ministry with one goal: to reach boys and girls with the gospel
of Christ, then to train them to serve Him. The word AWANA stands
for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. It is taken from 2 Timothy
2:15, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
During a typical meeting,
the children participate in three sessions. First there is handbook
time. The children work in books, memorized God’s Word,
and sometimes have special projects. They earn patches and ribbons
as they learn. Second, there is a time of fellowship, singing,
and a message from the Bible. Third, there’s Game Time!
Throughout the year there are also special events such as the
AWANA Grand Prix, Sparks Regatta, and the AWANA Games/Sparks-A-Rama.
The three clubs at Albany
Baptist are: AWANA Cubbies (3 to 5 year olds), AWANA Sparks (kindergarten
through second grade), and Truth and Training (third through
sixth grade).
